Kinsley Construction was awarded the bid for this year’s road improvements. The two main areas included in the bid are Canterbury and Georgetown development. The roads in Canterbury being milled and paved include: Canterbury Drive (includes a small port of Mill Rd from Gettysburg Pike to Canterbury Drive, from Canterbury Drive to Fisher Rd, and from Canterbury Dr to Lancelot Ave.), Hastings Drive, Bradford Drive, Bradford Court, Coventry Court and Dover Court will be milled and paved. The roads that will be milled and paved in Georgetown include: E. Elmwood Avenue (from Shepherdstown Road to the Mechanicsburg Borough line) and Alison Avenue (from the Borough line to E. Elmwood Avenue). In addition to road repairs, new ADS ramps will be installed in Georgetown and stormwater boxes and pipes will be repaired or replaced. All the existing sewer manholes will be raised to line up with the new paving.
Kinsley Construction started making manhole repairs on May 20 and will begin base repairs on June 6. The final paving is expected to be completed by July 31, weather dependent. Signs will be posted notifying resident of any parking restrictions. None of the roads are expected to be closed completely, with the exception of a temporary detour when the final paving begins.
The bid also includes paving a portion of the parking lot in Winding Hill Park North, from the end of the existing paved parking lot to the edge of the large gravel parking lot by the soccer fields.
