Licensed/Approved Septic Haulers List 2016

The Upper Allen Township Board of Commissioners provides this list of licensed pumpers/haulers solely to inform residents of the persons or firms who have been licensed to perform service within Upper Allen Township.  Licensing is simply designed to insure that there will be proper disposal by the licensee of the pumped effluent under the provisions of Ordinance #605.  The providing of this list does not constitute an endorsement of any pumper/hauler on the list, nor does it constitute a warranty or certification of services to be provided or fees to be charged.  These matters are to be determined by the resident and the pumper/hauler chosen by the resident.

Sewage Grinder Pump Loaner Policy

The Township owns a limited number of spare grinder pumps and retains them for emergency use or purchase when an operating grinder pump either fails or requires maintenance. Spare grinder pumps are available with the following conditions:

  1. Grinder pumps obtained from the Township must be installed by a licensed plumber;
  2. Loaner pumps must be returned thoroughly cleaned and in good condition within 30 days unless otherwise approved in writing by the Township; and
  3. Property owners will assume ownership of the grinder pump and will be billed for the cost of a similar grinder pump if it is not returned within 30 days, unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Township.

The Township stores spare grinder pumps at its Grantham Wastewater Treatment Plant, located at 400 Creekside Drive, Mechanicsburg. The procedure for obtaining a spare pump is for the property owner or plumber to call the Township as follows:

During Business Hours - M-F 7am to 4:30pm

Call the Township Office 766-0756 or the Grantham Wastewater Treatment Plant  697-9548

After hours, Weekends or Holidays

Please call the WWTP Superintendent at 943-4357 or call the Non-emergency line for the Police Department 238-9676 to report the issue.

Sign a Waiver for a Loaner Pump

The Township requires property owners to sign a loaner form when receiving a loaner pump and reserves the right to impose a penalty to homeowners who fail to return the pump on time or for a damaged pump.

Article VII, Section 200-129 of the Township Code states that the owner shall be wholly and solely responsible for the cost and expense of proper operation, repair and maintenance of the grinder pump system serving the owner’s improved property. The Township shall have no responsibility for the operation, repair, replacement or maintenance of any part of any grinder pump system, except for providing the emergency use of spared grinder pumps as set forth above.
